Well,
As I’ve probably told you, I started that story when it was current events, when recording had pretty much just become something you could seriously do on a computer, and a phone was a thing that often hung on a wall. Life determined that it was completed as a piece of historical fiction. Ah, life.
So now it’s done.
(At least a solid first draft. I think it was Lenny Henry who I first heard say “writing is re-writing”. Yeah, that’s a truth and a half. Break for a short while, then I start the re-write.)
Although as I was nearing the end I realised that there’s not only one story. There are actually three.
And that the story title I’ve been using since forever is actually the name of the, er, series…? O dear.
I’ve been trying to argue. No luck.
I’m going to have to think about this…
In case you’re curious—what’s next?
New writing is already happening, at the same pace. (What?! Don’t ask me, I’m just as surprised as you are. Apparently I’m not in charge, I’m just a reporter.)
If you’re subscribed as a Patron you’ll have regular access to chapters of Tolerance II starting July 1. An important day in these parts. You may know why.
All subscribers will be able to enjoy chapters of Tolerance II weekly starting September 1. Is that Labour Day? Well imagine that.
And in all my spare time I really need to figure out what to do with those other two projects you maybe already know about—that odd little science fiction tale about finding what is lost and determining what it’s worth, and that magical fantasy about a farm kid and a penny whistle and where it takes them. Both are a double handful of chapters in and deserve some love.
Meanwhile, this just a note to say thanks for your help. Without the ’stack environment, and a weekly deadline to get it out to you and a handful of other readers, it probably wouldn’t have happened. I’m grateful.
Now I think I’ll go play guitar for a while. See if it still loves me.
Thanks again.
